From 1995, the Local Museum has had as its primary mission, to the extent possible, protect, study, Share and bequeath the rich and varied heritage of this territory. Thus, The museum was created as an institution that not only custody several objects of great heritage value, but it promotes research in their area of ​​influence. The rock art, Neolithic settlement, Bronze Age, Orientalizing period prior to the Iberian Culture, the funerary world of those moments, Roman culture and its projection in the territorial occupation of the Visigothic, Islamic culture and its strengths, ceramics potteries Hellin, understood these as a fossil manager of the modern era, or archeology of contemporary societies, have been the main themes of work and all thanks to a broad range of researchers who have passed through these lands and have left their mark, which has enriched the perspective of interpretation and improved what we might call the transfer of ideas and knowledge.

In its various collections which certainly stands up to the archeology, product of many years of research ranging from the Lower Paleolithic to the Middle Ages.

Presented in three different plants archaeological and ethnographic collections among which are those of the initial prehistoric (Lower and Middle Paleolithic) Source from Hellin and Pedernaloso; Neolithic, as the source Isso; Bronze Age (The Castellón), season orientalizante (The Almadenes) o ibéricas y romanas (Well Snow or Villa de Hellin).

Ethnology of the district offered to the public various elements of the work as spelled cofines, escriños, valeos, blades and a long list of parts for domestic and agricultural use, well as objects that have to do with the office of the espadrille. The popular pottery is present with a good collection of local pottery, white and blue, of great importance in the ancient Kingdom of Murcia, as well as other areas of Spain, such Manises or Alcora, china and glass Cartagena, datable in the nineteenth century, and a sample of tiles from different places almost entirely of a private collection donated by Angel Escandell.

The building in which is located the Regional Museum was renovated between the years 1991 and 1995. Facade, organized into three sections, highlights the central body with balconies. The door, carved by the carpenter Sebastián Guillén, shows two male heads of mythological characters flanked by a dragon on each side complemented with various floral motifs of Art Nouveau. Access is through a wrought iron gate, applique also modernist, which can be considered as a single piece in Hellin.

These, in short, a medium-sized museum offering a service tailored to the cultural needs of the regional territory, with a temporary exhibition hall, an audiovisual room, library, workrooms, laboratory and storage facilities. The layout of the rooms and collections, museográfico corresponding to a model based on the object, makes this guide describes each of these rooms and property exposed in their windows as a way to bring the public the objects of our past.
